Weekend Trip

I've posted before about Heber... our little family of 3 had a fun summer weekend there! It was Little Baby's first time (of many, we hope!).

New trick!

She'll stand for a few seconds, maybe clap, look around, and fall on her booty. Beyond adorable!

Trying to keep her in one spot, fruitless...(random outfit, successful):

Mommy's not-so-funny joke (she did not really like the turtle puppet taking her paci):

(what a freakface-face I'm making there. sheesh.)

FISH!

Family walk down by the stream (behind the Fish Hatchery) before it got too blazing hot:

And keeping an eye on us on the ride home (she would fall asleep with her head this way, watching us :)

Special thanks goes to the Bulldog for delivering on the milkshakes, once again. The peach is superb!

Gold Coin Necklace

Friday, June 22, 2012

My soon-to-be 92 year old Granny just moved from the condo she's lived in for the past 12 years, into a very nice assisted living home. A minimalist by nature, she relishes a move for its inherent excuse to pare down, to get rid of things. Even if they're still potentially useful, like this necklace.

She's been wearing this gold coin necklace as long as I can remember. Apparently though, "as I long as I can remember" is 1994, which is the year on the coin I'd never noticed before.

When she gave it to me (the timing of which I did protest, since she could easily still wear it), I asked her to tell me the story behind it; where she got it, why she bought it, etc.

The following is the intricate tale she told me:

"I bought it for myself because I liked it."

And why not? Sometimes, there's no better reason.

This baby.

I swear.

She grows at lightening speed!

(And her mom is sometimes a slacker!)

Food in My Hair and I Just Don't Care

Tuesday, June 19, 2012

I can't really tell you what exactly we've been up to lately… This gal continues to expand her eating repertoire outside the world of purees, and doesn't mind rubbing a little avocado in her strangely light-colored locks.

Carry on!

Matching Shoes, etc.

I'm home from my business trip; everyone is in tact and happy to be reunited!

What was waiting for me when I got home? The Mommy version of this bandwagon we hopped on and oh man I'm so excited.  Can you stand it?

Mommy-daughter Saltwaters! eeeek! Great price on the mom version, but whyyy are kids' version a mere $5-10 less? Why are kids' shoes so expensive, in general? Doesn't make sense that these are so close in price and so different in scale.

In other silly news, I'm still on a bit of a nail polish kick (such a fun, cheap-ish way to make yourself feel pulled-together). Here are my current faves:

Ok, so my photoshop skills are admittedly deficient. I sat down to make this little collage on my favorite nail polish shades because I thought it would be an easy exercise. But for some reason, it turned into this ongoing disaster where I would create the jpg and then when I uploaded it into the post and made it full-size, the top two nail polish colors changed completely and looked awful (and defeated the purpose of posting about nail polish)? I don't understand at all. So that's why it's small. Help?

Anyway, these are my favorites right now (if you click to enlarge this image, you can see how the colors change!).

All Essie, as you can see. That Chinchilly is much grey-er in person than it looks there, and I love it. Any nail polish colors you've been loving lately?

Off to take a break from screens and read a book (or unpack?). At least that won't change colors on me (I hope).

I'm supposed to be packing for a five (!) day trip, and instead, am looking at this...

and finally cleaning out winter clothes including the last of the maternity remnants. Is this the time to do so?

Maybe I'm delaying thinking of the first days apart from my girl since her birth (ack!) and choosing to eat my feelings in the form of Annie's Honey Graham Bunnies (definitely not going to help with my goal), and online window-shop?

Maybe.
