8 Months Old, Better Late Than Never

Monday, April 30, 2012

Where did April go? Between Easter, Jonathan taking boards, going on vacation, my 10 year high school reunion, and hosting bunko, every week just flew by. BUT--I don't want to let Juliette's 8th month go undocumented. Thank you for indulging me (but you don't have to).

April 10, 2012

Dear Baby,

I'm sorta bummed, because this is the best photo we got of you at 8 months old:

And no bear!  :(

This is all you wanted to do...

MOVE!

and move ...

and move!

You've mastered the art of sitting this month, and are working on transitioning from laying down to sitting up...

You love walks, being outside, and are also loving to PLAY with toys and explore!

In what Daddy calls your "modeling" pose.

You like to hang out and play this way sometimes. Hey, whatever works, right?

You got your first cold this month since being sick. Mrs. Debbie and AJ took good care of you for those few days you were sick, and you fought off your cold very well!

Before starting school again, you said "dada" for the first time (and still, EVERYTHING and everyone are da-da), and added your third solids meal, breakfast.

(sweater knitted by your great-Granny)

(You'd woken up hungry for a few nights, and once we added breakfast about mid-month, you started sleeping all night again. Yay!)

Your other big trick this month was your rolling/army crawl mish-mash that made you mobile! You can make your way across a room pretty quickly! It's made things like getting ready in the morning or running to do that-one-thing in the house a little more challenging. I can no longer just set you down and trust that you will stay exactly put.

Sitting in your first restaurant high chair:

You returned to school on April 2nd and have done a great job! Your teachers have been so sweet and happy to see you, and all your little friends are moving and grooving all over the place! There are a bunch of fun toys to play with, and you can explore as much as you like! Your napping-in-a-room-full-of-noise-and-light skills are not superb, but you have maintained your agreeable and happy personality despite the catnaps.

(Also for school, I got you a new pair of shoes! They are so cute!)

First day back:

Uncle Scooter came to visit from sunny CA!

We went to the zoo and saw elephants.

Your Grandad, teaching you to "find middle C, Jules."

Then, all of a sudden, it was Easter!

At our church's egg hunt on Saturday (photo by "Uncle" Grant)... LOVE that little expression...

(and that little dress we got her last year in Roma, while she was still incubating)

And later that day at Grammy's...

Sneezing!

The next day, Easter Sunday (and Mommy's birthday) was a wonderful day! You looked so adorable, and we had a wonderful morning celebrating our risen Savior!

Easter basket:

(Yes, the chocolate bunny is purely for looks.)

With your BFF Elliot (are these little faces killer or what?):

With your great-Granny:

It was a wonderful day!

For posterity (yes, that again): you're wearing a size 3 diaper, and mostly 9 month clothes and a few 12 month items (!!!). You nap about an hour in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon (while not at school), go to bed around 7, and wake up anywhere between 6-7, for the most part. You're still bathing in your whale tub, and by the end of the month, eating 3 meals of solids. You're still nursing once in the morning, taking two 8 oz. bottles while Mommy is at work, and nursing right after work and right before bed.

Your favorite food is still bananas, and we gave you some puffs this month, which you're starting to like more and more. You also love apples, pears, pumpkin, and prunes, and dislike mango, homemade squash, or anything green.

We lowered your bed (sad!). You weighed 19 lb 4 oz. when we took you to see Dr. Bubba during your cold (on March 22). Your hair is still looking so light and is getting longer and longer on top and over your little ears (hehe). You love when we sing your theme song, "Little Sprout," or any music Daddy plays you on the guitar. You also love the books "Little Feet Love" and "Kiss, Kiss."

You're our little ray of sunshine, and we love you to the moon and back!

See you in about 10 days for next month's...whoops!

  1. I just love these posts. I guess it's the mom in me. Juliette is adorable! The pic of the two of you, with Juliette in her bunny ears, is really cute of both of you. Her expression is great and you look pretty. :)
