Love this (it's a camper!) and other stuff

Love me some etsy! Look how adorable this camper cup is! You can see the full listing here

It's hand-built, too. After taking a pottery class last summer, I can attest, none of this pottery stuff is easy. There is definitely talent and hard work involved, make no mistake.

Also this tray is some timely holiday "eye candy" (I feel like that's a popular blog phrase). Can be found here. Happy Valentine's almost.

Mostly to Embarrass Jesse...

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Yes, oh yes, we made a diaper cake. And yes, Jesse helped me do it. No, neither of us are pregnant. You can guffaw all you want, but this puppy was a big hit in the conference room baby shower at my office. And no diapers were harmed in the making of this cake.

TBD whether or not Jesse and Leslie will reunite for Diaper Cake: Act II.

The Underlying Resolution is Ironic

Friday, January 09, 2009

Of course it's time for the annual "New Year's Resolution" post. And for some reason I have been procrastinating its composition. Which is funny, because one of my resolutions is to deal with things on-the-spot. Funny.

I like resolutions. They are always a good idea to me on January 1st. Turning over a new leaf, starting fresh, making it count, all that stuff.

Seriously, though, what follows are my honest-to-goodness resolutions.

1. Not procrastinate in writing posts on this blog. Already failed.

2. Be the healthiest version of myself. This involves a foray into membership on sparkpeople.com . It tracks what you eat, calories, nutrition facts, exercise, calories burned, has recipe ideas (the nutrition facts of which you can import into your daily calorie intake), and all sorts of goodies. And I've lost 1 lb so far. Doesn't seem like much, but aren't you supposed to lose 1-2 lb/week? It's been one week, so I think I'm on track to being the healthiest version of myself. Unfortunately, in the exercise department, that progress is TBD.

3. Quit talking and obsessing about money so much. Had a minor freakout yesterday after going to the grocery store (but who doesn't?), but other than that, I'm trying to focus on, "see the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet their heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Who by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?" (Mt. 6:26-27) It's a poor reflection of me that I have to choose this as my theme verse for 2009, but alas. Some lessons cannot be learned once.

I'm hoping if I'm up-and-at-'em updating this blog, that it will translate into other parts of my life. And the fact that it took me almost 2 weeks to complete this post is, indeed, ironic.
